Winter is for Ducks! American Wigeons by Audubon Poster Print

For a lot of birders in the United States, winter is one of the best times to go looking for ducks. It’s Weird Duck Time! This is the season when waterfowl lovers get the chance to spot species that are otherwise elusive—ducks that breed in the far north begin migrating south as the temperatures drop, making brief but exciting appearances across the lower 48.
One of the stars of this seasonal shift is the American Wigeon, a striking dabbling duck known for its pale forehead, green eye stripe (on the male), and its charming wheezy whistle of a call. While they breed in northwestern North America, their winter range stretches impressively—from the Atlantic coast, throughout the central flyways, and all the way down the Pacific coastline. These elegant ducks can also be found wintering well into Central America and the northern parts of South America.
John James Audubon's painting of a pair of American Widgeons (using the traditional older spelling) was included in his original Birds of America series. Duck seekers will enjoy this poster-sized replica of the iconic painting by America's most famous ornithologist.
The print is presented here in 24" by 20" size. Other standard poster size are available, or you can choose your own custom size, up to 40" wide!
